If the exposure is long enough, the moon can light up a landscape in much the same way as sunlight. Couple noticeable difference being the lighting is much softer and it creates soothing blue tones. Shadows are cast long and provide deep contrast.
If both the sun and the moon are not visible in the night sky, the stars shine bright. And with exposure times approaching 30 seconds, the sky comes alive.
